In November 1941, Eva, her mother, Elfriede, and her younger brother, Heinz, were forcibly relocated to the Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslovakia. Theresienstadt was a deceptive facade, presented to the outside world as a model Jewish settlement while concealing the true horrors within.

In Theresienstadt, Eva and her family faced unimaginable hardships. Overcrowding, disease, and starvation were rampant. However, despite the despair, Eva found solace in small acts of kindness and the unbreakable bonds she formed with fellow prisoners.

Deportation to Auschwitz

In October 1944, Eva and her family were transported to the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp. Upon arrival, they were ruthlessly separated. Eva witnessed the brutal murder of her brother, Heinz, who was torn from her arms and sent to the gas chambers.

Eva, along with her mother, was assigned to forced labor in an ammunition factory. She endured unimaginable suffering, witnessing countless horrors and daily confronting the threat of death.

Liberation and the Path to Israel

On January 27, 1945, the Soviet army liberated Auschwitz. Eva and her mother were among the few survivors of the camp's horrors. They spent months recovering in a hospital, struggling to come to terms with their unimaginable loss.

After the war, Eva and her mother returned to Vienna. However, the scars of their past haunted them. In 1951, they made the life-changing decision to immigrate to Israel, the Promised Land for Jewish survivors.

Renewing Life in Israel

In Israel, Eva and her mother found a new sense of purpose. Eva met and married Zvi Schloss, a fellow Holocaust survivor. Together, they built a family and dedicated their lives to sharing their story and advocating for peace.

Eva became an esteemed author and lecturer, using her platform to raise awareness about the Holocaust and its lessons. She published several books, including the acclaimed memoir, "After Auschwitz: A Story of Healing and Reconciliation."

A Legacy of Hope and Reconciliation
